Orchard Brae Picks Up Pace with Renotification
Information event set for 6th March at Dakota Hotel
Our nationally significant development in North Lanarkshire is set to move another step forward, as we submit an update to our proposals to the Council.
Our masterplan for the proposed employment and residential led, mixed-use, zero-carbon community located across the M8 from Eurocentral, has been updated to complement the proposed 200-acre country park, 980 housing mix and associated community facilities. Employment land would also be created, bringing more than 2,000 direct jobs, supplementing the 2,570 construction jobs the overall masterplan would generate for the area.
Plans will be made public through the Council’s planning portal, but as part of the renotification, our project team is hosting an information event to share its updated vision on the evolved proposal for the area.
The event, set for Wednesday 6th March, will allow stakeholders, members of the local community and other interested parties to engage with the team regarding the overall masterplan for the site. If successful, the development could add more than £351 million of new investment to the area.
Having renotified North Lanarkshire Council of our plans, the event, taking place in the Douglas Suite at the Dakota Hotel, will allow the team to convey the developments overall vision for the ‘green at heart’ development, highlight our commitment to the community and local businesses, whilst reinforcing the sustainability, biodiversity and employability credentials in line with the new NPF4 guidelines.
With doors opening at 1pm on the day, the team will be on hand until 7.30pm to showcase the amended plans as well as discuss the added benefits that the development will bring once completed, such as approximately 1800 ‘full time equivalent’ jobs, addressing the area’s local labour market needs and providing job opportunities for both long term and youth unemployed.
Stephen Tucker, Masterplanner and spokesperson for the project, said: “Throughout this process, we have been keen to engage with stakeholders and the local community and so, whilst there is a live application submitted and under consideration on this project, we have chosen to host this face-to-face event, to allow us to showcase our exciting vision for the area, and provide our most up to date information.
“The level of engagement and support from the local community has already been incredibly encouraging and very useful as we move our plans forward towards a determination by North Lanarkshire Council, and we are keen to show how that feedback has allowed us to shape our plans even further, ensuring community benefits, including energy-efficient homes, community facilities and amenities and a dedicated, well-maintained 200-acre country park, with up to 65% of the overall development being green.
“We look forward to meeting those interested on the 6th March, to share our evolved plan and discuss why Orchard Brae will bring key housing and employment opportunities to the area and a positive, lasting legacy to North Lanarkshire for generations to come.”
